David Ampofo is a creative and independent thinking communicator. He is an award winning journalist, broadcaster and social entrepreneur working in the field of Public Affairs and Communications. He is a highly respected political commentator.
Born into the turbulent times of post-colonial Ghana, David has experienced firsthand, transitions between democracy and military rule and the social, economic and political upheavals they bring. He has a keen insight into development issues surrounding Africa in general and Ghana in particular.
David holds a First Class Bachelors degree in Politics and Philosophy from Cuba’s leading political leadership school, Escuela Superior Nico Lopez. He also holds a Masters Degree in Journalism from the University of Wales in the United Kingdom.
In 1986, David entered journalism, reporting television news for the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation and hosting the corporation’s primetime news and current affairs program, Searchlight.
He was Presidential Correspondent between 1986 and 1992 during the administration of Flight Lieutenant Jerry John Rawlings.
He was named Best TV News Reporter in 1987, and Ghana’s Journalist of the Year in 1988. David was also the Africa correspondent for M-Net’s award-winning actuality program Carte Blanche during the nineties – a position that put him at the cutting edge of major news events across the Continent.
In 1992, David founded Channel Two Communications, a Public Affairs and Communications Company and launched his own independent production – Time with David, which quickly became the most viewed television talk show in Ghana. Time with David typically deals with national and international issues covering economic development, business, politics and social issues. Between 1995 and 2010 he recorded over 1000 interviews. David was also the first Host of TV3’s prime time television interview program Hot Issues.
Bringing with him hard-earned insight, David is today a Communications Advisor to several international and Local Companies and has a track record for raising public awareness and keeping national issues in the public eye.
